Popular Ghanaian actor, Lilwin has implored Ghanaians to show the country’s movie industry support.
There have been reports that Ghanaians are dissatisfied with the fact that most Ghanaian movies make use of Ghanaian languages instead of English, which is most likely the reason why Kumawood movies have a small audience.
However, Lil Win urged Ghanaians to stop criticizing Kumawood because of that, citing Chinese movies as an example. He said;
“Let me ask a question, the Chinese movies we watch, do they speak English? No, they don’t…rather, the language is translated into English (subtitles) and shown on the screen so you follow the story and that is what we need here.”
“The truth is that, let us learn to rally behind what we have. Look, if they say the local language is not good then, I ask all media houses to stop broadcasting in Twi and only operate in English and let us see what will happen,” Lil Win said on Abeiku Santana’s show, Atuu.
